Philemon Wright as a prize-winning grower of hemp
Silver Medal Award in 1802 — Philemon Wright acquired hemp-seed, from Commissary J.W. Clark, which he sowed. It grew to a height of 14 feet, some of which he sent to Montreal with two samples of his seed. He received a certificate from the Hemp Committee in Montreal which he passed to the Society of Arts, receiving in return a silver medal.
