Col. Allan Gilmour
Col. Allan Gilmour, son of John Gilmour, formed a partnership with brothers John Jr. and David, and cousin J.D. Gilmour, with the name Gilmour & Co. The mill at Gatineau Mills, Chelsea, in 1871 produced 35 million board feet . Twenty years later the partnership dissolved owing to a period of depression, the loss of the Hull mill by fire, coupled with apparent inept management. A new company was formed, 1891, by John Gilmour Jr. and Ward. C. Hughson - Gilmour & Hughson Co.
