Footnote to History

Nov. 28th, 1847 — The Gatineau River froze over at the Winter Landing.

29th — Crossed the river on foot.

30th — Crossed the river with one horse sleigh.

Dec. 12th — The ice got so bad and rotten that the people could not even cross on foot.
