When the Brookdale Children’s Home was founded, it was the only Protestant children’s home in western Quebec. For more than 25 years, from 1953 until 1975, it provided a foster home for children in need due to family troubles or illness or death of one or both parents.

At first, “Brookdale Farm” had its own school, but later most of the children attended the Wakefield School.

Quebec’s social policy toward fostering children changed over time, and the home closed in 1975. The children were then sent to different places and families.
