In the 1860s Edward and Bridget Healey arrived from Ireland and took up land to farm. The Healey house has been rehabilitated by the National Capital Commission (NCC) as Healey Shelter. It can be reached year-round from P 16 by trail 50 or during winter from P 15 by a snowshoe trail.
An English-language elementary school stood near this site. Municipal records of the late 1870s record it as a Catholic School, No.2. The census taken in June 1901 enumerated it with 1 teacher and 12 students.
